Maxim V. Budantsev

senior researcher,
PhD in phys.-math. sci.

Scientific activities:

Maxim V. Budantsev studies fundumental issues of quantum electron transport in nanostructured semiconductor systems. In particular, he first discovered that 2D lattice of coupled Sinai billiards preserves metal behaviour in the state when the magnitude of its conductivity is significantly less than critical, which is defined by Ioffe-Regel criterion.

M.V. Budantsev's study of transport of low-dimensional electrons and phonons in the suspended Coulomb blockade quantum dots, fabricated on the base of semiconductor membranes separated from the wafer refers to the one of the priorities of the modern physics. In addition, M.V. Budantsev is engaged in experimental studies of magnetic field-induced phase transition observed in 2D electron gas in the quantum Hall effect regime.

Educational background:

  • 1992 - Novosibirsk State University
  • 1999 - defended his PhD thesis

Professional activities:

He has been working in ISP since 1992.

Pedagogical activities:

As a part of pedagogical activity M.V. Budantsev conducts students diploma and course works in NSU. He was repeatedly awarded Paper of Honor of the Governor of the Novosibirsk region for high level of training of students - All-Russian and regional academic competition's winners.

Premiums and awards:

M.V. Budantsev is a leader of three RFBR projects and RF Presidential grant as a part of the program "Young PhD scientists"; he was a key performer in a range of international and Russian projects. The results of his work were marked with state grant for young scientists, grant for young scientists of Rzhanov ISP SB RAS, international grants. M.V. Budantsev is awarded Paper of Honor of the SB RAS for personal contribution to the development of the national science, fruitful and faithful work for SB RAS.
In 2005 his active scientific and organizational work was marked with commemorative token in honor of 110th anniversary of Novosibirsk "For work for the good of the city".

Public activities:

M.V. Budantsev successfully combines research work, organizational and pedagogical activities.
